A New Chapter

Happy New Year

The first day of the new year serves for a few things:

  1. Recovering from the night before

  2. Reflecting on what you accomplished the previous year

  3. Reflecting on your relationships with everyone in your life

  4. Setting new goals - both short-term and long-term

Without even knowing it, our brain is wired to think of the new year as a time to change our mindset. It's no wonder people love to say "New year, new me." It's a very popular tradition to make new year's resolutions. It is said that this goes all the way back to 153 B.C. That's a really long time, so we might as well just go along with it!

On this new beginning, we have the opportunity to evaluate ourselves and make changes. We can look back at the past year and see what made us happy and what didn't serve us. Whether your goal is to quit a bad habit or pick up on a good habit, make sure the goal is achievable. That is - be realistic. Otherwise, you'll set yourself up for disappointment and you'll be over the year too early on. The simple goals are the good ones.

How will you be welcoming this new year?
